The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind, a wild ride that has completely changed the trajectory of my tech – related endeavors. For those who have been following my newsletter for a while, you know that I’ve always had a passion for cobbling together software to solve the various niggles of my work and daily life. There’s something incredibly satisfying about creating a tool that can streamline tasks and make life just a little bit easier.​
However, I often found myself hitting a wall. My lack of advanced programming skills meant that I could only take my projects so far. The software I built never quite lived up to my initial vision, falling short of being the truly useful tools I hoped they would be. But last year, everything changed. With the rise of ChatGPT and Claude, I discovered a new ally in my programming struggles. These AI assistants were surprisingly adept at helping me work through complex coding problems, and I was amazed at how much I could achieve, despite being just a hobbyist developer.​
Over the past month, I’ve been diving headfirst into the world of the latest AI – powered tools. I’ve been using them to build all sorts of apps, each one designed to automate or enhance different aspects of my work. And the results have been nothing short of astonishing. I’ve created a tool that can take podcast episodes and generate polished transcripts, detailed show notes, and even clever title ideas. Another tool I built offers in – depth, professional – level editing feedback for my book. I’ve also built an entirely new website for myself and one for my new podcast, as well as a personal task manager and goal setter.
With each new project, I’m becoming more and more convinced that we’re on the cusp of a golden age of software development. Thanks to AI, building personalized software has never been easier. And then, 24 hours ago, a simple tweet set off a chain of events that led me to where I am now. A friend reached out, impressed by the software I’d been creating with these AI tools. He wanted to learn how to do it himself and suggested I run a small cohort to teach others.​
I decided to gauge the wider interest on X, and the response was overwhelming. Over 100 people replied, eager to learn. At first, I was hesitant. I’d been out of the course – creation game for four years and never thought I’d get back into it. But the sheer enthusiasm for this topic was impossible to ignore. I realized that not only could I offer something truly valuable to others, but it would also be a lot of fun for me. So, I took the plunge. And now, 24 hours later, nearly 150 students have enrolled!​
